The Ellipse Operator guides the light from the flash-lamp to the treatment area. The unique Ellipse 12PL+ system carefully filters this light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin. Hair contains pigment (melanin) that absorbs the light and converts it into heat.

The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle, which is then destroyed and rendered unable to produce a new hair. To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair, a thin layer of gel is applied to your skin before treatment.

The flash-lamp in the unique Elipse 12PL+ system produces light that is carefully filtered in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct characteristics (wavelengths) is allowed to reach your skin.

The light that is allowed through has been chosen because it is the sort that two natural body substances respond to. Age spots contain a substance called melanin, and diff use redness contains a substance called haemoglobin. When cells containing a lot of melanin or haemoglobin are hit with the right type of light, they heat up and are destroyed within a few thousandths of one second.

Collage is one of the most common proteins in the skin, and is also found in many other body tissues. But as we age (from as early as our 20s) collagen production slows, and elastin (the substance that causes our skin to snap back into position) becomes less springy. Part of this is due to our normal ageing process, but environmental factors such as sun exposure speed up the process and can prematurely age the skin, something often called Photo-ageing.

Photo-ageing causes pigmentation marks thread veins and diffused redness. It also causes problems with pore size, fine wrinkles and loose or rough skin.

The skin texture treatment works in a slightly different way from normal rejuvenation. A short pulse of light stimulates normal blood vessels to release an enzyme, that causes the body to break down old collagen and replace it with new. The wavelengths used have been proven to work, using chemical markers which show a 92+ increase in pro collagen production within 72 hours of the treatment. By comparison, cosmetics that simply contain collagen have no effect (since the skin is unable to absorb it).

The light that is allowed through is absorbed by haemoglobin, which is the red pigment in blood. The light from the fl ash-lamp heats up the haemoglobin in the fine blood vessels that supply the sebaceous glands. This causes a minor injury to the sebaceous glands and slows down the overproduction of oil that leads to acne.
